Weissenhofsiedlung – Stuttgart/Killesberg
The “Weissenhofsiedlung” in Stuttgart/Killesberg was built in 1927 under the supervision of German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The 21 houses – containing 63 flats – were meant as a model housing programme for the modern urbanite and showcase the art of the “new architecture” in Germany back then. They were part of the exhibition “Die Wohnung” (“The flat”), organised by the German Werkbund in 1927.
I took the 10 minute subway ride over there on a sunny afternoon during last years’ October to take some pictures of this beautiful piece of timeless architecture. Don’t miss it on your next visit to Stuttgart!
